Three Leadership Development Strategies to get your staff or employees to follow your lead.
One of the things that successful leaders are very good at is leading by example.
As a leader you must show your staff or whomever you are leading that you are able and willing to get your hands dirty in order to get the job done.
Using the leadership development strategy of leading by example will make it easier for you to lead your staff and will get your staff to follow more effectively.
Before I was a motivational speaker I was a coach of an AAU team Lady Soldiers. One summer we went to nationals and had to play against a basketball team that had some brutal centers in the middle.
Our game plan against this team was to attack the middle and go write at them. Our center at the time was not as physical as her opponent so it frustrated my point guard.
My point guard used the leadership development strategy of lead by example by going up the middle every time she had a chance. She later told my center in the huddle that she can do it to. By leading by example she gave my center the courage to work hard and do what ever needs to be done to win.
So as a leader it is very important that you lead by example able and willing to get your hands dirty to reach the ultimate goal.
Here are a few things that you can do to show people that you are leading that you are able when willing to get your hands dirty.
Tip number 1
Whenever you state an ultimate goal that you're trying to accomplish state it by using the word we and not you. By stating the task that way, you are showing the people you are leading that you are willing to help if needed.
Tip number 2
Let the people know you are leading what pitfalls or bumps in the road that may come about. By doing this you are showing hem your concerns and not just throwing them out to the wolves.
Tip number 3
Let them know the rewards of finishing the task. This is a must, because when the going gets tough they needed to know why they should keep going.
By implementing these three leadership development strategies whoever you are leading will not only be willing to work harder but will be eager to reach the ultimate goal no matter how big or small it is.
